Retigo Beer Day 2024
2024-10-11T14:42:26+00:00The recent Retigo Beer Day was a roaring success!
Held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London on Thursday 19th September 2024, we facilitated a packed agenda which included live cooking demonstrations, beer and wine tastings, Masterclasses from Czech breweries and raffle, as well as live music and performances.
Our Executive Chefs Danny Burns and Phil Smith provided regular live cooking demonstrations throughout the day serving up Czech favourites and other mouth-watering treats fresh from our combi ovens! Beer tasting was offered by independent Czech breweries and the beer pouring Masterclasses were hosted by Mike of ToMo Tankovna in Maidenhead.
The wine tasting was given by Wines of Bohemia. Our guests sampled some of the best wines from the Czech Republic and gained an understanding of wines from the from Bohemia and South Moravia region. The day began with a Partners meeting which included, for the first time, the Retigo Awards 2024!
Our distribution partners were then joined by end-users including restaurant owners, pub chains and other UK-based Czech businesses in the sunny gardens of the Czech embassy. The afternoon kicked-off with a few words from the Czech Ambassador, Marie Chatardova, followed by Retigo UK Managing Director, Aneta Juroskova, and Martin Macourek, CzechTrade Beer Ambassador, before an afternoon of Czech hospitality commenced.
Executive Chefs Phil Smith and Danny Burn served up culinary delights including delicious steaks and Moniks – juicy meatballs wrapped in crispy bacon and smothered in BBQ sauce. It was all washed down with Czech beer provided by Czech beer makers VIK, PRIMATOR and BOHEMIA.
As our guests immersed themselves in Czech beer culture and mastered the famous “Czech pour”, we were joined by saxophonist Radim Nowak, who created the perfect atmosphere. As the sun set, our chefs had one last treat for our guests; delicious fresh pizzas – cooked in under 3 minutes! These were enjoyed whilst watching a fascinating fire dance from the talented Jodie Duckworth, ending the evening on a high.
